Requirements for Discounted Rates
- Student/Trainee (Member and Nonmember) – Must be full-time medical, nursing or graduate student, or full-time fellow (postdoctoral/clinical research) or house officer enrolled in a training program. Badge reads “Student/Trainee.” Badges do not mail. Badges must be picked up on site and verification of status is required: a student ID or letter written on official letterhead and signed by a department head, mentor or supervisor.
- Technician (Member and Nonmember) - Must be full-time laboratory technician, research technician or cardiovascular technologist. Badge reads “Technician.” Badges do not mail. Badges must be picked up o nsite and on-site verification of status is required: current license or certification.
- Nurse, EMT/Paramedic (Member) – Must be Plus, Premium or General Professional Member of the AHA/ASA, and full-time practicing licensed and/or certified nurse, paramedic or EMT. Badge reads “Nurse/Nurse Practitioner” or “EMT/Paramedic” respectively.
Note: Nonmember nurses, EMT/paramedics who join at the Early Career level are not eligible for the discounted rates.
- Early Career Member – Category is restricted to investigators, clinicians or health professionals who have completed training within the last five years. Also applies to physicians or scientists in their first five years after faculty appointment. Note: Discounted rates are only available to members in this category.
- Premium Emeritus Member – Category is limited to professional members 65 years or older who have requested and received emeritus status from the association before registering.
If you join or renew at the General Professional level, you do not receive the discounted registration fee benefit. A special discounted registration fee is offered only to nurses and EMT/paramedics who join at this level.
Verification of Status
The following must provide verification on site prior to receiving registration materials (Badges will not mail):
- Student/Trainee – Members and Nonmembers
- Technicians – Members and Nonmembers
One of the following must be presented on site:
- Current license or certificate
- Valid Student ID
- Letter written on official letterhead and signed by a department head, mentor or supervisor
If you join at a different level/or register in a different category and then submit verification for a reduced fee category, the AHA will not refund the difference.
Registration Cancellation Policy
CDS must receive written notice of cancellations by Oct. 15, 2010, 12 midnight/EST, to receive a refund less $50 processing fee. Cancellation requests received after Oct. 15, 2010, 12 midnight/EST, will not be refunded. Ticketed events are nonrefundable or transferable. No refunds will be issued until seven to 15 days post event.
General Event Policies

Guest Policy – Guest registration is defined as a spouse or family member of a professional registrant or a guest of an exhibiting company. Guest registrants are only permitted in the Science and Technology Hall. If you wish to access the full meeting, full registration is required. All guests who register on site must present a government issued photo ID and be accompanied by the conference registrant before receiving a badge onsite.

Badge Information - Badges will begin mailing the week of Oct. 5. Please bring your envelope of badge credentials on site to pick up your conference materials.

No Refunds Issued On Site

There will be a $20 charge to reissue lost badges on site - no exceptions.
American Heart Association Policies Regarding Infants and Children
- Children older than 6 months and younger than 8 years are not allowed in the Science and Technology Hall.

Infants under 6 months are allowed in the Science and Technology Hall during exhibit hours only.

Parents of infants must sign a liability waiver here and obtain a badge that reflects permission has been given for the infant to be carried into the Science and Technology Hall.

Because of insurance liability and safety, infants must be held at all times.

Strollers and infant carriers are not allowed in the Science and Technology Hall.

Because of limited seating capacity and the highly technical nature of the program, children are not allowed to attend presentations.

For safety reasons, children are not permitted in the Poster Hall.
